The World Is Not Enough Review
Strap into the multi-task program, 007: The World is Not Enough for the PlayStation, and experience the action of a role-playing shooter program that challenges both intellect and reflexives.
Combining film clips from the 007 MGM adventure, and interactive game play, this console outing will define a mission and then give you the minimum weapons needed to accomplish that endeavor. Initially, you will be guided through the first outing, but after that, you must develop the feel for the program – the controls are wonderfully easy to understand – that will put you in the role of Bond, James Bond.
It is a first-person perspective, barring the video clips, and you can only advance through paying attention to the mission and the problems presented.
Controls are a nice combination of D-pad, the basic control units and R-L keys. Not only will you have to learn to rapidly select the weapon controls, but you will also have to master the D-pad in order to move rapidly – whether through hallways, or down a snow-covered course.
This is nice combination of film magic, and well-rendered animation. The gameplay is very smooth, and the sound will give you all the impetus to embark on a Bond mission – not only with the very nice vocal characterizations, but the mission briefings, incoming messages (which will aid you along the way) and FPS sound quality.
In many ways, this is a shooter program, but you will be intrigued by the variety of missions, and the options. You must be prepared to be stealthy, to collect armament as you progress, to elude sensors and to react at as moment’s notice to the variety of bad guys that will be firing at you. Even if you can’t shoot, you may be able to render a foe inoperative through the use of good old-fashioned knuckle action.
If you aren’t shaken, but stirred by competitive role-playing action in a console game, The World Is Not Enough may be right up your mission alley.
This program is rated for Teens due to animated blood and violence.
Install: Easy
Though not
really applicable, this program does come up fast and only uses one block
on a memory card.
Sneak down halls, turn and shoot while watching that health meter - this game moves very smoothly through each mission.
Graphics: 8.5
Combing cutscenes
taken from the movie, nice interactive environments and a lot of well-rendered
action makes this a nice-looking program.
The vocal characterizations are very good, and the other sounds associated with a program that combines the shooter genre with racing are all well done.
Difficulty: 8.5
The controls
are very easy to understand and implement, but the scenarios are designed
to be challenging.
Concept: 8.5
Nice environments,
minor puzzles and the ever-present James Bond attitude make it a nicely
designed program.
This is a single-player game.
Overall: 8.5
If you are
a fan of the movie series, like shooter games, or are just looking for
a fun, challenging diversion, this program is one you will enjoy. It is
a nice combination of the Bond legend and FPS action.
