You may not have a Christmas Tree in your living room right now but who says you can't enjoy Christmas year round?

The Grinch!  That's who!  And now you can pretend to be The Grinch every day of the year when you get into the hilarious action of this Dr. Seuss classic on the Playstation!

The Grinch is out to steal Christmas and he needs your help to put his plan into action!  In order to steal Christmas (and complete the game), you will have to find all the gadget blueprints that are scattered throughout Who land and put the gadgets together using the Grinch Computer.  The gadgets are essential to completing a number of the missions.

You must then complete all missions (primary and secondary) for each of four different environments:  Whoville, Who Forest, Who Dump and Who Lake.  You can find the missions listed in The Grinch's Notebook.

Finally, you must break all the gifts that are scattered throughout each of the four environments.

There is so much to do if you (The Grinch) are to finish all the missions before Christmas arrives!  Sometimes you will need the help of Max the Dog.  He is the faithful companion of The Grinch and he can get into small areas, walk in tight places, break the red and green gifts, walk on narrow platforms and bring back tiny items that you'll need.

One important thing to keep track of is The Grinch's Exhaust-O-Meter.  Even the tiniest sound or touch can drive The Grinch nutso! And when this happens, he gets more and more tired!  The meter keeps tracks of The Grinch's exhaustion level.  If the meter becomes totally full, The Grinch blows a fuse and must start all over again.  The trick is to do things that make The Grinch feel better...like breaking things or completing a mission.  Keep a sharp lookout for Hearts-of-Stone everywhere you go because they will increase The Grinch's resistance to exhaustion.

Every place you go will be filled with lots of things to see and do!  Don't worry if you haven't completed all the missions for one of the areas when you discover the way to move to the next environment because you can always go back and finish those later.

There are many useful items you must find and use to complete some of the missions.  Be sure to look for all the Rotten Egg Plants, Nitro Eggs and Hearts-of-Stone that you can find to help you along the way.

The Grinch is a very good inventor and he has made all kinds of gadgets that you will need like Binoculars, Rotten-Egg-Launcher, Rocket-Spring, Octopus-Climbing-Device, Grinch Copter and the Grinch's Personal Marine Mobile.

Oh, yes, there are also costumes that The Grinch can use to disguise himself.  Each time you find a costume, you'll also have to find a place to change and that isn't always very easy.

Ok, then!  It's time to see how successful you will be at being The Grinch!  I can see you as The Grinch right now!  Yellow eyes and Green hair all over the body...Vile and smelling like old green baloney...Yes!  That's The Grinch!

This Playstation Game is rated E for Everyone.

Install:  N/A

Gameplay:   7.5.
I found some control issues while playing that sometimes make maneuvering very difficult.  There are also some problems with controlling the camera view.

Graphics:  9.5.
This game really shines in the graphics department.  It is obvious that a lot of work went into making the game graphics match the quality of the book and movie.

Sound:  9.5.
Again, The Grinch really shines here as well.  The music is delightful, the voices are superb and the sound effects dynamite!

Difficulty:  9.5.
This will not be an easy game to master.  Some of the missions are quite challenging which earns The Grinch this high difficulty rating.

Concept:  8.0.
There is nothing particularly innovative in the storyline to earn higher marks but this take-off from the Dr. Seuss book classic is very well orchestrated and entertaining.

Multiplayer:  N/A

Overall:  8.0.
This game will be most enjoyable for anyone who has enjoyed the book and the movie, but it definitely appeals most directly to children.  While adults might become aggravated by obvious control and camera view issues, the kids find The Grinch very appealing.  If you are having a bad day and feel like smashing things and kicking everyone, you are sure to enjoy the malevolent side to this very green character!  I think each of us has a little part of The Grinch hidden deep inside from one time or another!  Bah!  Humbug!  Where is my controller?
